17 Nov Re Panettone: the Milanese dessert festival

Re Panettone is the most well known event dedicated to the typical dessert of Milan. Organized by Stanislao Porzio, it celebrated its first edition at the Teatro Litta in Milan in the last weekend of November 2008.

Since then, every year it continues until the end of November in the Lombard capital, but it also includes editions in Naples, to spread the culture of panettone everywhere. The focal point of the event is the display of excellent artisan panettone, to promote quality. Each edition adds further content to the original nucleus, to make the event more and more interesting. The panettone stands out from other events, because it asks the participating pastry chefs to conform to the ALL-NATURAL, ARTISAN ONLY philosophy, signing a declaration that commits and uses only natural ingredients and avoids the sensitivities of additives and semi-finished products. Freshness, authenticity and originality are the characteristics of true quality craft products.

This year the first stop is in Naples, on 24 and 25 of November. For the fifth consecutive year the tasting stalls of pastry chefs from all over Italy, with a large representation of Campania, will be set up in the halls of the Grand Hotel Parker’s on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, 135, an historic hotel, a welcome icon in Naples since 1870. Alongside traditional recipes, Re Panettone Napoli gives space to creative variations that compete for the Re Panettone® Award Naples. The recognition is awarded by a jury of experts with blind tastings and awards the best innovative panettone.

Saturday 23 November – from 11.00 to 21.00

Sunday 24 November – from 11:00 to 19:00

Next weekend the event will be move to Milan where it has always compared tradition and innovation, combining the timeless recipe of sweet pride of Milan with its most recent interpretations.

In line with this vocation, its twelfth Milanese edition will take place at the MIND Milano Innovation District. Just where Expo 2015 was born, the new Milanese district of innovation was born, with the campus of the scientific pole of the University of Milan, the Human Technopole and the headquarters of other important institutions.
