The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019

The stars of the restaurant world have gathered at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore for the awarding of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019. This year’s event rewarded 26 countries on five continents. The event celebrated a new No.1, chef Mauro Colagreco, who won the double award for his restaurant Mirazur, in Mentone (France), as The World’s Best Restaurant 2019 and The Best Restaurant in Europe 2019.

Colagreco’s Mirazur has been joined on the podium by Noma (No.2) in Copenhagen (Denmark) and by Asador Etxebarri (No.3) in Atxondo (Spain).

The award to the Mirazur, on the Côte d’Azur, is a testimony of the chef Colagreco’s love for local products, most of which are grown in the restaurant’s three-story garden, a few meters from the dining room.

Italy was represented by the Lido 84 restaurant, winner of the Miele One To Watch 2019 award and positioned on the extended list at No.78 and Piazza Duomo in Alba (No.29), while only two lower places is Le Calandre of Rubano.

The Osteria Francescana, which won the title of The World’s Best Restaurant in 2018, has this year risen to the Best of the Best category with the other six restaurants that have reached the No.1 position in the history of the list. The chef Massimo Bottura, who joined the celebration, also attended the # 50BestTalks: Kitchen Karma events, and the Food Meets Future, an event on the future of gastronomy organized on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the main sponsor S. Pellegrino
